
I can feel it in my gut.
Hey ever wondered about the nervous system in your intestines? Well we have. And now we know - Christmas colours paint the nerves and the cell bodies that make up the neurons (well at least they do in the lab). Thanks to Kennedy's hard work we think that a mother's diet during pregnancy influcences what the nerves in her babies gut look like. Yup that is cool stuff.

It's been a week of winning
The SlobodaLab has been on a winning streak! It started with Kaitlyn winning a Larry Ewing Memorial Trainee Travel Fund (LEMTTF) to present her awesome research results at the 48th Annual Meeting of the Society for the Study of Reproduction in San Juan, Puerto Rico (not too shabby), followed by Kennedy receiving a Canadian Association of Gastroenterology Summer Scholarship (oooh the summer will be filled with science fun!), then Wajiha Gohir and Kaitlyn BOTH receiving CIBC Gr

Congratulations this time to Kennedy Hao, one of our start undergraduate thesis students (3rd year!) for her success in gettinga Canadian Association of Gastroenterology Research scholarship for her project on Maternal obesity: the role of the gut in mediating offspring obesity risk. We love dedicated undergrads, they're not just for filling tips boxes :)
